The Habitat for Humanity home in Carleton Place is well under way.
The frame of the house is up, with mudding, flooring and painting still to come.
Despite a slight flaw with electrical hook-ups - they needed to do an unexpected road cut - the building has been going well.
"That's been the only fly in the ointment so far, pretty much right on track," Hicks said.
The house should be finished by the end of March, and once the Chapman family finishes their volunteer hours, they can move in.
Usually it takes about a year for a recipient family to complete the 500 mandatory volunteer hours, but in about three months they are already halfway through.
Andrew Chapman has been working on the house and his wife, Rebecca, has been co-ordinating the volunteer lunches, as well as working at the Habitat ReStore in Ottawa.
"They're doing just fabulously, they've just been so appreciative of everything that's been done," Hicks said. "We couldn't have chosen a better family."
Fundraising has been very successful for the project as well, with the family's church, Kanata Baptist, fundraising for the roofing costs.
The drywall was recently donated, with the Miller Boys volunteering for all the framing and roofing labour.
Hicks said they've seen more response for donations and volunteers in Carleton Place than they are used to.
"We've seen a lot more response, especially from the professional trades people."
