EMC Sports - A successful six hand bid euchre tournament was held at the Almonte Community Centre (Upper Hall) on Jan. 29, with six tables of six players competing for the gold, silver and bronze medals.

With 513 points, Edith Leishman and Elaine Madore were the gold medal winners. With 511 points, silver medals went to Jan Pettem and Marion Jackson. With 486 points, the bronze medal winners were Mary Kolsters and Russell Wark.

On Jan. 23, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 240 (Almonte) was the venue for the North Lanark Senior Games Association (NLSGA) duplicate bridge tournament.

Gold medal winners were Iris Winston, Shai Hall, Jeri Lunney and Bob McClean. Silver medal winners were Ellen Quinn, Carroll Hamilton, Lorna Hooper, Donna Bennett and Kaye Grace. Margaret Janssen, Betty McIvor and Loreen Stewart were bronze medal winners.

Gold medal winners will represent the NLSGA next year (2011) at the Provincial Senior Games in Haliburton, running Feb. 15-17.

Now it's time to grab your running shoes and start preparing for the summer games, which start with shuffleboard on March 30. Look for brochures and registration forms in your local community centres, legions and senior groups.
