Heritage Speaker Series goes tonight

Posted Mar 11, 2010 By EMC News

EMC Events - Tonight (March 11), the Heritage Speaker Series - sponsored by the Beckwith Heritage Committee, will feature author Terry Currie.

The Ottawa Valley's Great Fire of 1870 has been a puzzle to historians for decades. It was always obvious that a major disaster took place in the Ottawa area in 1870, but the extent and duration of the catastrophe were unclear. By searching broad resources and combining information in new ways, Currie - a historian, has produced a sharp new perspective on the Great Fire.

The talk begins at 7 p.m. at Brunton Community Hall in Black's Corners (Hwy. 15 and 9th Line). Light refreshments will be served, and seating is limited.
