Enjoy free March Break fun offered at TYPS
Posted Mar 11, 2010 By EMC NewsEMC Events - What are you doing for the March Break? If you respond by saying, "stuff," TYPS (Take Young People Seriously) is the place to be.
TYPS has something fun planned for everyone, a variety of exciting activities. Located at 79 Bridge St. in Almonte, the youth centre is open each day from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
On Monday, March 15 skating will take place at the Almonte arena from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and afterwards enjoy popcorn and a movie from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Tuesday (March 16), TYPS' Amazing Race treasure hunt begins at 1 p.m., ending at 3 p.m. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., get into the St. Patrick's Day spirit and decorate the centre using arts and crafts.
Almonte Potters Guild is the place to be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17. Come and try your hand at pottery! Please, sign up at TYPS or by phone (613-256-8485). Back at TYPS, a jello-eating contest begins at 3:30 p.m. Play bingo - the St. Patrick's Day way, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Again, lace up the skates on March 18 (Thursday) and head down to the Almonte arena between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Later, enjoy popcorn and a movie from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
On Friday, March 19: sledding at Gemmill Park (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.), pool tournament (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.), and pizza and a movie (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.).
Now I ask: What are you doing for March Break? Answer: Having fun at TYPS.
In February, TYPS went brainless for the Zombie Ball. In partnership with the Town of Mississippi Mills Parks and Recreation Department, the youth centre hosted a successful Valentine's Day dance at the arena. All proceeds from the canteen were gathered in support of the effort to build a skate park in Almonte. Thanks to all of you Zombie's out there for supporting the skate park and for having fun. Stay tuned for future dances!
TYPS is selling home made pastry: $3 for one or $5 for two. Each block of frozen pastry can make five pie shells. Call for details.
