These works of art ('Ancient Splendour' by J. Weller) along with many others will be a part of the Merrickville Artists' Guild's art exhibit, being shown throughout the month of March at the branch restaurant in Kemptville. A vernissage to officially open the exhibit was held on March 3.
Their popular annual studio tour attracts hundreds of people to Merrickville and the surrounding area each fall. MAG is very excited to come together under one roof at the beautiful branch restaurant and celebrate the love for art that thrives in this area.
The artists of the guild provide a diverse array of unique art. The MAG talents include painters, mixed media artists, potters, glass blowers, glass artisans, a gourd artiste, jewelers, a textile creator, wood turners and an artist who works with iron at Canada's oldest foundry.
A vernissage will be held at the restaurant on March 3 from 6 to 7 p.m. The gathering is open to the public at no charge. Please come out to enjoy refreshments and meet the artists of MAG. For more information on the Merrickville Artist's Guild please visit our website where you can download an electronic brochure and map of the 2009 studio tour and view some of the artwork: http://www.merrickvilleartists.com/studiotour.htm.
Many of the artist's studios are open year around and visitors are always welcome. Those interested may also call the branch at 613-258-3737 for questions about the March exhibit.
